OUR AGREEMENT UNIVERSITIES IN SLOVAKIA

COMENIUS UNIVERSITY

The Faculty of Philosophy of the Comenius University in Bratislava is a scientific and educational institution preparing qualified experts in various fields of humanities, capable of deepening the contribution of Slovak scholars to a common cultural heritage of the Europe region and the whole mankind as well. The Faculty was founded as one of the five founding faculties of Comenius University in 1919. Its primary task then was educating Slovak intelligentsia, predominantly secondary-school/high-school teachers and other professionals in humanities.

The scientific and educational activities of the Faculty of Philosophy are based on the following groups of branches: philosophical sciences, philological, pedagogical and psychological sciences, political science, history and archeology, religious studies, library and information science, arts and cultural studies, journalism.

The Faculty of Philosophy enrolls students from abroad as well, either for the whole course of studies or for its part, within their course of studies at foreign university. Several departments are ready to provide individual courses in world languages after a preliminary agreement.

SLOVAK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY IN BRATISLAVA

The history of the higher technical education in Slovakia has started in the year 1762 by the foundation of the Academy of Mining and Forestry in Banská Štiavnica. The establishment of the Academy of Mining and Forestry was important moment in the history of higher technical education, as it was the first educational institution in Slovakia providing technical education at the university level. The Academy of Mining and Forestry has maintained its high level of standard for more than 150 years of its existence and has founded the tradition of excellence of higher technical education in Slovakia.

More than two decades of struggles preceded the establishment and enactment of the first university in Slovakia. The Technical University of M. R. Štefánik was founded in Košice and authorised by the Act No. 170/1937 Coll. of the Czechoslovak National Council, on June 25, 1937.

SLOVAK MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN BRATISLAVA

The Slovak Medical University in Bratislava (SMU) is an educational institution proudly keeping the tradition of education of healthcare workers in specialized studies and continuous life-long education in Slovakia.

The Slovak Institute for Postgraduate Education of Physicians, established on May 1st, 1953 in Trenčín, laid the foundations of education of healthcare professionals in Slovakia. From July 7th, 1966, the Institute moved into new premises in Bratislava, under a new name – The Institute of Further Education of Physicians and Pharmacists, which remained until 1991. On July 1st, 1991, the name was changed to the Institute for Further Education of Professionals in Healthcare, and later, resulting from requirements in practice, the last change on November 1st, 1998 transformed it into the Slovak Postgraduate Academy of Medicine in Bratislava.

On September 1st, 2002, the Slovak Medical University was founded in Bratislava by Act No. 401/2002 Coll. of the National Council of the Slovak Republic on the establishment of the Slovak Medical University, as a state university of higher education.

PAVOL JOZEF SAFARIK UNIVERSITY IN KOSICE

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University was established in 1959 as the second classical University in Slovakia. The current structure of  P. J. Šafárik University includes four faculties – Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Public Administration. At our University more than 5 700 students are studying. At the University 1250 staff members (500 teachers and 95 research staff) are working.

The University provides education in three main cycles - bachelor’s, master’s, doctor´s and PhD. studies in different fields. The process of education is provided in both, Slovak and English language. Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice provides higher education based on the newest scientific findings in a wide international context. The University co-operates very intensively with academic institutions all around the world.

PANEUROPEAN UNIVERSITY

Paneuropean University (PEU) was founded in 2004 as a private educational establishment that initially carried the name of Bratislavská vysoká škola práva. Starting with the academic year 2010/2011 it is called Paneuropean University.

PEU currently has five faculties – Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Mass Media, Faculty of Informatics and Faculty of Psychology. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies in 14 programmes accredited by the Ministry of Education. Three faculties of PEU allow habilitation and inauguration. The other two are authorised to carry out a rigorous procedure.

PEU is a modern educational and research institution that is committed to the Humboldtian idea of graduate education complying with the latest achievements in education and research.

PEU develops creativity and promotes innovative solutions. Its students grow into competent professionals and intellectuals in their areas of studies.

UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IN BRATISLAVA

The University of Economics in Bratislava (UEBA), established in 1940, is historically the first Higher Education Institution focused on Economics, Business and Management studies in Slovakia.
The UEBA is a public Higher Education Institution, considered nowadays as one of the most important educational and scientific-research institutions in the Slovak Republic.
It provides higher education in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programmes for full-time and part-time students.
In terms of student numbers the UEBA’ s share of the Slovak Higher Education market is significant, and it maintains its leading position in the provision of Economics, Business and Management degree programmes.
On the basis of the comprehensive accreditation of Higher Education Institutions in the Slovak Republic, (2008 - 2009), the University was classified by the Slovak Accreditation Commission as a “university type higher education institution” which is the highest category of higher education institutions in Slovakia.
The University has achieved an excellent reputation as a result of the high employability of its graduates.
The UEBA has established a wide and mutually beneficial network with various institutions from both private and public sectors in Slovakia and abroad.
Numbers of University graduates hold leading positions in the Slovak economy and society.
